I saw the craziest story this week that I wanted to share here, in case someone has some cash and is ready for a life change. There is a 62-acre Victorian village in Connecticut for sale!
Historic Johnsonville, CT
Back in the early 19th century, Johnsonville was a small, but bustling, town. A twine and cord mill fueled a thriving economy and drove its growth. Years later, with the town in decline, a millionaire began buying up the land with dreams of creating a tourist attraction. He traveled around the country, purchasing Victorian buildings and moving them to Johnsonville to assemble the perfect turn-of-the-century village experience. Unfortunately, his vision never came to fruition, and he died in 1998. After his death, the town began its second decline.
In 2001, a hotel conglomerate purchased the property for $2.5 million with lots of ideas for what it could become. After brainstorming various plans for the past 16 years, they’ve now decided to sell.
Now, for $1.9 million, you could be the proud owner of this entire town. If you don’t mind the stories of haunted buildings, you could be very happy there! Included in the price are an authentic Victorian-era schoolhouse, general store, stable, and other buildings, a pond, a waterfall, and a covered bridge. So quaint!
So what do you think? Would you like to live in a historical town like this one? Maybe a few families could go in together and split it up? Perhaps it could be a very fancy commune? Or a unique retirement community? The possibilities are endless!
