Anyone who lives in or around Columbus knows that it is chock full of hipsters. With the largest university in the country, it’s no surprise that Columbus is home to thousands of young recent college graduates. These taste-makers make our fair city a great place for trendy, new businesses. From record shops to artisanal, gluten free bakeries, we check all the hippest boxes.
Hipsters especially love Clintonville, where the housing market is hotter than a latte served in an avocado. Even if you don’t live in the city, there’s no reason to miss out on all the cool shops that the hipsters adore. Here are four super cool spots in Clintonville to spend your day.
Brunch at Northstar
Hipsters love brunch. It’s a weekend institution. If you’re going to do brunch in Clintonville, you can’t go wrong with Northstar. House made sausage, warm biscuits, and organic eggs will fill you with energy for your day.
Once you’ve eaten your fill, take a walk down high street to check out the many vintage shops in Clintonville. My favorite, the Boomerang Room, offers everything from pricey Mid-Century pieces to velvet paintings. I’ve picked up all sorts of treasures here.
Have a Treat
Now that you’ve walked around a bit, stop by Pattycake Bakery for a sweet treat. According to their site, they make sweets that are “as delicious as they are virtuous.” Is it possible to be more hipster than that? They’ve got several flavors of whoopie pies, which I would love to eat right now. They even have pumpkin!
Catch a Movie
Studio 35 is a tiny movie theater on Indianola that has an incredible beer list. Plus, they make little doughnut holes fresh and cheap. I’ll take them over popcorn any day. They show independent films, cheap kids movies all summer, and midnight showings of Rocky Horror Picture Show all year long!
