Every year, I eagerly await the day in December when Pantone releases their Color of the Year. I’m not sure why I get so excited, but I’m not alone. Retailers and designers almost always pick up the color of the year in products, advertising, and home decor. It’s fun to see the new color pop up in unexpected places!
Last Year’s Color
Up until last December, the color of the year had always been just that a color. Just one. Last year, Pantone broke with that tradition and named two colors: Rose Quartz, a whispery light pink, and a clear baby blue hue called Serenity. It was a little strange.
The colors were predictably all over the place last year, though, and I’m even seeing them on a bunch of Christmas trees this year!
2017 Color of the Year
The 2017 Color of the Year is Greenery, “a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive.” I am fully on board with this choice. It’s bright and hopeful, and I can see it on lots of products and home goods.
Wondering how Greenery looks in the home? Check out these ways it’s already being used!
