My husband and I sat down to do our budget last night and set some financial goals for 2018. It’s time to detox from the crazy excess of Christmas and get back to our normal way of life. It feels so good to get everything all sorted out and to know exactly where we stand.
If you are looking at your budget and feeling the urge to really tighten things up, maybe it’s time to move to a less expensive home. Mortgage and rent payments take up a huge percentage of most people’s income, so reducing it is a great way to free up some cash. Even though it’s still a seller’s market in many ways, you can still find great deals out there! In fact, we have several lovely listings for under $100k. Even if you can’t put 20% down, you will still be looking at mortgage payments between $500 and $600 a month, which is way cheaper than rent for most single family homes.
Old Fashioned Charm in Newark
This house is so special, and if I hadn’t JUST bought a house last year, I would be coveting it. With the covered front porch and leaded glass windows, there’s no lack in curb appeal. The entire downstairs has the most intricate, original hardwood floors, woodwork and fireplaces galore, and pocket doors (I have a thing for pocket doors). At nearly 100 years old, you’d think it would have a dinky little kitchen, but it’s actually quite large, and features all updated appliances. Four bedrooms and 1.5 baths are upstairs, and the backyard is fully fenced and landscaped, and there’s a deck and a patio. Now that’s quite a lot of bang for your buck! Here’s the link the full listing on our site.
Looking for something closer to town with more Mid Century appeal? Here’s your winner. This sprawling ranch sits on over half an acre of land and is within walking distance to Easton. It’s move in ready and with 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, an attached garage and a finished basement, it’s a great family home. Check out the full listing page here.
Superb in Southern Pines
How cute is this house? Sometimes, I think ranches lack curb appeal, but not this one! Those shutters and window boxes are too sweet. This home has been updated, not just cosmetically, but where it counts. It features a newer roof and practically brand new HVAC systems. With a nice, fenced backyard and a deck, it’s got lots of space for kids and pets to play. The floors, paint, kitchen and bath have also all been redone. At $100,000, it’s sure to fit your budget! All that’s left is to move in! Click here to see the full listing.
Wonderful in Whitehall
Another house with charming curb appeal! I love the blue and stone exterior on this Whitehall gem. You really must click through to check out the backyard, which features lots of mature trees. With nearly half an acre of land, start planning your landscaping now! Inside, there’s a beautiful, totally updated kitchen. Check out the full listing here.
